PEYTON A.LAFRENZ

HUNTER SEAT O/F AND FLAT CANDIDATE

I'm currently a Senior at Wayzata High School, and when I’m not riding I keep busy with my schoolwork, running my non-profit Grocery Gatherers, nannying, and spending time with family and friends.  I also am a founding member and serve as the President of the Minnesota Hunter & Jumper Association Junior Board.  I am also a working student at Harvest Hill Farm, doing anything from lunging, to riding, and occasionally herding children. I enjoy every aspect of the sport from the piles of manure to the victory gallop.

My goal moving forward in my equestrian career is to be part of an NCAA Division I Equestrian Team. I believe that my work ethic, sportsmanship and experience riding a variety of horses, combined with my strong academic record, would make me a good addition to a college level team. I promise if given the opportunity I will give my all and not disappoint.

In September of 2012 my mom purchased a Groupon for my sister and I to try riding lessons at a local stable.  I stepped into the barn that day and never looked back. Eight years and five horses later, I'm fortunate enough to have continued riding, along the way learning the value of hard work, developing resilience I didn’t know I had, and experiencing a deep passion most people only dream of. My journey in my riding career has been nothing short of interesting with lots of twists and turns, victories and injuries, but given all it has taught me I wouldn't change it for the world.  OK, well I might change the “injuries,” but overcoming those is part of the sport too.
